Can I use insurance at New Growth?
How does it work?
Many people have insurance plans that reimburse them for payments made to out-of-network providers – New Growth is an out-of-network provider. New Growth does not accept insurance, does not bill insurance companies, nor file claims. If you decide to see one of ur therapists, you pay the fee discussed at the beginning of therapy and seek reimbursement by filing a claim directly with your insurance company. We provide a monthly “super bill” that has the necessary information for you to complete your claim.
What are the steps?
- Explain that you wish to see an out-of-network mental health therapist.
- Ask “will my plan reimburse me directly for payments I make to the out-of-network mental health therapist?”
- Most plans cover individual therapy (CPT code 90834), but some may exclude couples or family counseling. If you are seeking either, ask specifically “will you reimburse for CPT codes 90846 and 90847?”
- Ask “Do I have to meet a deductible before reimbursement begins?”
- Ask “How do I get you to reimburse me personally? I want to be sure you do not send the check to the provider – how do I complete the forms to insure that you send the check to me?
- Discuss what you’ve learned with your therapist.
What about Medicare?
New Growth Counseling does not accept Medicare or MediCal. If you have supplemental ‘gap’ insurance for your Medicare, you still cannot get reimbursed. The laws have recently changed and many Medicare recipients can now see MFTs for services. However, New Growth is not a Medicare Provider. If you believe you can file such a claim, we would not be able to work with you.
